Summary
Kazui did his best holding his desire to run his fingertips over the palm — as tenderly as possible; just to remember the sensation. It was better not to make any unnecessary moves. He was most certainly already balancing on the verge of Shidou’s patience, and a single wrong step could bring him down into the abyss along with the brittle warmth of the cautious trust binding them together at the moment.

Shidou didn’t ever forget. He only talked about it out loud a couple of times, too briefly and too aloofly, as if he was wearing the most impenetrable mask ever on his face; but Kazui was sure that even when he was silent — he still remembered. Even the most unreadable face couldn’t hide the aura of mild, but ever-following and ever-existing sadness that was always behind him as a trail, hovering around him as an invisible haze, no matter how warm a smile he was forcing himself to form or with how much zeal he was rushing to help someone in need.
