Summary
Come to me, she hears a disembodied voice calling. Its voice is warm and comforting from where it echoes from the shoreline, between the sounds of waves crashing against the sand.
She follows its call, leaving paw prints behind her as she goes.
I’ll take care of you, it says again. She picks up the pace, continuing forward until the source of the voice comes into view – a large ship with a figurehead of a smiling lion with a flaming mane, tucked against the shoreline between two cliff faces.
She’s unsure as she approaches. The ship is daunting compared to her small size, but the lion’s eyes seem to follow her, boring into her soul from where it sits above her.
Come aboard. You’ll be safe here.

“What time is it?” he mumbles, breathing in the faint scent of her shampoo – a sweet tangerine and honey blend that’s dangerously comforting, already on the edge of lulling him back to sleep.
“A little after 6,” she whispers back, tilting her head back to get a good look at his face. “Wanted to get up earlier so we could make the morning before work special. Luffy’s idea.” She leans up to press a kiss to his jaw. “Happy birthday, Zoro.”
Zoro lets out a snort. “Of course Luffy would have the idea to get up early then sleep through the alarm. He probably just wanted to goad you into making him a bigger breakfast than normal.”Zoro's early morning birthday gift.
