Summary
“You know, it’s nothing to be bummed out about, if you haven’t…” Frank says, sitting next to Mel in the staircase. She tucks her phone into her scrubs, putting away her lava lamp app and looking at him.
Some of the residents had been talking about their dating history, in a rare, quiet moment of the day shift. Santos had shared wild stories about crazy ex-girlfriends, and Whittaker some sweet ones with the kids his age in the neighbouring farms.
Mel had left abruptly. Langdon, who was not included in the conversation, noticed anyway.
“Oh, no, I have. I’ve even had boyfriends before,” Mel says, fidgeting with her hands, “in school it was easier for me to have boyfriends than to make friends, for some reason.”
Frank looks at her with raised eyebrows, “yeah?”

“What? What is it, Dana?”
She laughs, then softly, secretly, says, “it's you who likes her!”

Summary
He thought about his coworkers, about what they would think of Abby if they heard how she spoke to him. Robby never truly liked her, and it was mutual. Garcia had met her once, but he couldn't remember the interaction. In a low moment, he figured she would get on well with Santos, at the very least their opinion of him was the same.
The thought of Mel listening, out of everyone, gave him an odd feeling. He imagined her reaction: her downturned lips, confused eyes, a slight shake of the head, how she would respond to Abby calling the Pitt a shithole, of her calling Frank aimless.
