“We can’t stay there!” he whispers, wide eyes shifting between you and the door. “I think I know where we are. Guards would talk about this place back home. It’s… not right, what’s in there. It’s not safe—We should go back—”
He turns halfway around before you latch onto his tunic and pull him back to face you.
“We’re not just staying here. We’re looting it.” You beam up at him with a smile more wild than comforting. “It’ll be fine.”
He gapes at you. “We’re…?”

In the still silence of your dark bedroom, you hold each other. Just that, your body pressed to his and his to yours. He’s so kind, holding you for a whole minute, then another, then another, moving only to take in more steady breaths. You and your heart rate calm down to the point where you can think again, and you have to hold back a laugh. So much for making out with him!
Limbs loosened, you trace an invisible heart onto his firm shoulder. “Is this what you imagined it’d be like? Being with me?”
Yuuji laughs, a sweet sound you miss as soon as it’s gone. He nuzzles his face into your neck, and his words come out muffled. “I don’t think so. But this is so much better than I could’ve ever imagined.”

The morning, when you’ll be handed over to be sent to the Whiterun jail, is still far off, but as the logs of the fire flake off into ash, your chances of getting out of this mess only keep waning.

“Sorry. We just—” You turn back around to look at your strawberries forgotten in their bowl, at the bottle of wine dripping condensation onto the table. “We’re getting ahead of ourselves.”
Megumi laughs as you climb off of him. He keeps his arm wrapped around your shoulder, his warmth seeping into your skin under your thin t-shirt. “You’re getting ahead of yourself. That was all you.”
You take a chocolate-covered strawberry out of the bowl and hold it up to his lips. “Shut up,” you pout. “Eat.”

The demon finally spoke with a voice that would have surely shaken Yuji's core if he wasn’t already so annoyed by the snow that came without warning. The weatherman on the news never mentioned the slightest chance of snowfall. It was already bad enough he’d been wandering the woods on his own, but to become lost while the sky dusted the ground in a blanket of white had only made him wish he would have just stayed home.
And now he was in the presence of a demon. A very pissed-off demon, who looked none too pleased with the person before him.
“I, uh…” A bead of sweat rolled down Yuji’s neck. Domain? Did the demon mean the estate? “Walked, well stumbled, actually, and found… it?”
