Summary
"I wanted to kiss you," he said bluntly, sensing Damian's heart skip a beat. Oh, there it was. The crack was widening and the dam that Jon had built around himself would soon collapse.
"What?"
There was no time for second thoughts; he couldn't stop any longer. The rift was becoming more and more obvious, and Jon would never be able to heal anything again. "When that monster was about to crush you, I... my only thought was to bring you to safety, and—" Jon said, moistening his lips without looking away. Damian stared at him, wide-eyed. Jon couldn't tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing. "I don't know, D. When I looked at you, I... I wanted to kiss you so badly that... I got scared 'cause I didn't want to ruin our friendship and—"
"Wait."
Jon was about to say more when Damian's single word held him back. He swallowed repeatedly as he looked at Damian's face. Had he spoken too much and too quickly? Had he given too much information and confused Damian? Or did Damian simply want closure now that he knew what Jon wanted?

Damian sits facing the entrance of the cave. He’s waiting for Bruce, who said he would be back in time for Damian’s recital. Seeing as he’s the one who made Damian join the stupid club anyway, saying it would be a good way to get to know new people in his school since he already knows how to play quite a few instruments. It’s quiet now, just the way Damian likes it.
If he doesn’t show up, I’m not going out of spite. I don’t want to anyway.
Alfred walks down the stairs after a few more minutes, zeroing in on Damian immediately. “Master Damian, you need to start getting ready. We’ll have to leave for your recital soon.”
“I’m waiting on Father.”
“You know he may not be able to come. You still have to go if he doesn’t,” he adds as though he’s reading Damian’s mind.
