Phainon’s first day on the job could not have been going any worse.
When he went to the gym that morning before the pizzeria opened, he did not see his gym crush there, which was odd. He always saw his gym crush on Sunday mornings. After getting home, Phainon took longer in the shower than expected and was nearly late to the time Galba had asked him to show up. He clambered into the rickety old car that they’d bought and very quickly discovered the AC unit was broken.
The cherry on top of all this was that he was pretty sure his first ever order was some sort of prank. Why was he driving into the forested mountains?

Mydei rolled his eyes. They continued watching the children play for a brief moment. Finally, he mused, "It's a bit weird though. Asteria had hair that was a lot lighter than mine. I can't recall my hair ever being that light."
"Well, yeah," Phainon said. "It makes sense. My Khaslana form has light blonde hair, too."
Mydei twisted in his seat to look up at him. "What? Why would she have hair like—"
He paused.
Come to think about it, he had never really figured out what happened that one night.
or: ten years after the fall of irontomb, mydei finds himself outnumbered by three white-haired, blue-eyed puppies. a drunken night hopefully fixes the problem (or does it...?)
