Summary
A canon divergence in which Edwin and Simon have a chance to get to know each other, and to explore all the ways they are the same:
The last day of autumn term is tomorrow, which means they will each head home to their families for the holidays as soon as exams are done. Edwin is dreading it, and his mood sours at the reminder. So many silent, sullen meals with people he barely knows, yet with whom he somehow shares blood. Tedious encounters with distant relations who have no real interest in him and nothing interesting to say. It will be dreadful.
But Simon leans in to catch his attention, and his eyes gleam with something promising. “Come see me tonight?”
“You mean at dinner?” They usually sit together at the evening meal now, so that is nothing new.
“No. Well, that too, but…” Simon shakes his head, then leans closer, so close that a few of his curls brush against Edwin’s forehead. His voice is tantalizingly low. “I mean tonight, some time after lights out…come to my bed.”
