Gentle Readers, I have on good authority that the dowager Viscountess Bridgerton has deemed that this is the season that her eldest unmarried son, Mr. Benedict Bridgerton, will take a wife. Most unfortunately for Lady Bridgerton, it seems Mr. Bridgerton is not in favor of this plan, and fled to the countryside. Some might say he is still pining for his mysterious Lady in Silver, though it has been two years since they met, and some doubt she exists. However, the sighs of relief exhaled by various debutantes were heard all over London when he returned a mere six weeks later.
There is also the matter of Mrs. Sophie Morgan, a rather mysterious young widow who is said to have accompanied Mr. Bridgerton back from the countryside. It seems she, and her very young son, have been the object of Mr. Bridgerton’s singular focus since their arrival. This Author believes that Lord Bridgerton will have something to say about that. However, that isn’t even the most shocking bit of news that This Author has been made aware of. But to find out what that is, you’ll have to turn the page…

Summary
