    "“Shall we, my lady?”

He kept his eyes trained on her face so he wouldn’t miss the smile he was after; when it came, it was even sweeter than he could’ve imagined, and he could tell by the slight blush that colored her cheeks and the way her lips pressed together just so that it had pleased her, just as he knew it would. She took his offered arm and pressed herself into his side. He was about to take a step forward when she spoke, her low, pretty voice ringing out into the crisp London air.

    “We shall, my lord.”"

    Summary

“Can’t you be homeless somewhere else?”

No beats skipped. No flinching. Aonung assures himself that he’s doing great.

But then Neteyam has the audacity to laugh and say, “Won’t be homeless if you take me home.”

And as his heart skips a beat only to thump wildly against his ribcage, Aonung flips Neteyam the finger. Courtesy to Lo'ak for teaching him to curse the Sullys way–not that he's proud of using it, but screw Neteyam and his annoyingly endearing sleepy face! Aonung just wants him and this stupid fluttery feeling gone, for fuck's sake. Can't he have his normal life back?

    Summary

Neteyam snorts quietly, his eyes flickering from under his eyelashes to gaze up at Aonung's face. Startled, Aonung continues. “And I don’t think you’re freaks or anything. I was just saying that because I’m— I was—” He can’t let Neteyam know. Not yet, and probably not ever. “I was afraid Lo’ak would take Tsireya away.”

It’s only a tiny white lie. Equally embarrassing, infinitely less shameful than the cacophony of feelings that rise up in his chest whenever Neteyam looks at him. Neteyam, the son of Toruk Makto: fearless, aggravating, irresistible.
