Summary
The grass grew lush in the summers, until the fields just outside the village looked like a gently rolling sea, a deep green with blue shadows. Instead of crabs and other darting scuttling things, the grass hummed late in the day with bugs and hid the shallowly breathing bodies of nervous prey animals, rabbits nestled defenseless against the sun-warmed earth. It also held two people, lying on the clean grass.
