Summary
Two years have passed since the events of the epilogue. Will is in his second year of visual arts at a university two hours away from Hawkins. Meanwhile, Mike hasn’t been doing well at all. After graduating from high school, he tried to move on with his life, as Hopper advised him to. He enrolled in a state university close to home and met frequently with the Party, except for Will, who had less and less time to travel back home. Little by little, everyone’s paths began to drift apart, and amid the grief over Eleven’s loss, his distancing from the group, and his difficulty adapting to college, he decided to freeze his studies. He thought that maybe he could write from home; however, two months later he began to block every time he sat down in front of the typewriter. His fantasy stories were interrupted by tragic, depressive ideas. On top of that, he started drinking. The first time was with Dustin and Steve at a bar; after that, though, he began going alone.

“I can’t keep doing this anymore” Will said, running a hand over his face, clearly frustrated.
“W-what… what do you mean?” The words stumbled out of Mike’s mouth, a mix of drunken daze and confusion. His stomach twisted up into his chest.
