He found a particular solace in being used like a weapon. Being wielded, unsheathed, and useful. As confident as he was in himself, there was something particularly satisfying in Del pointing him in a direction and, like a dog, he would bite and gnash and snap and harm until he felt satisfied the job was done. It was a deep trust in Del to believe that she knew him and what he would and wouldn't do. She'd never failed him yet.
The day I get out, he thought to himself, I’m finding her. I’m finding her, dead or alive. And then I’ll either protect her or avenge her.
