Summary
It's always been this way. He couldn’t trust Wilbur—he can’t trust Phil or Techno, either. He can’t trust Bad (or anyone associated with that bastard egg, for that matter) and after what happened, he doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to trust Sam again. The world was against him—and Tubbo was the only person he really, truly thought he had left.
And now he can’t trust him, either.

Tommy has been betrayed dozens of times before. But when he finds out that his best friend married the man who attacked the prison, it's a different kind of hurt—one he can't quite seem to wrap his head around. So he runs away.

Summary
Oh, if only they knew that the person they should be afraid of was standing among them, like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He looked distant, clearly stricken with other thoughts. While Tommy spilled Dream’s blood across the stone, nobody bothered to notice the way Ranboo flipped through the pages of his book, hands shaking, eyes glistening with tears that threatened to burn his skin. Because it was just Ranboo, right? Nobody really cared what he did.
And when the light of the portal drowned out his vision and he felt Sam pull him into the heat of hell, he silently cursed himself for being so distracted with the angst of a boy that he forgot to slit the throat of a monster.

Someone pays Dream a visit in prison.

Summary
Tommy was cold.
He spent most of his days sitting in the corner, completely still. Sometimes he fell asleep sitting up; he had a makeshift bed, but it was rare he used it. Nighttime was when he moved; while Techno slept, he snuck into storage rooms and food supplies, taking what he desired before retreating down into his depths once again. It was a system that had worked well enough for the last week or so. He just had to hope it would last.
Sometimes, though, hope isn’t enough.—
Or:Tommy makes a hideout under Techno's house, but Techno isn't stupid.

Summary
Steven had weights on his shoulders.
Not literally. It was a metaphor, which meant that it wasn’t real, even if it felt real. Real enough that he thought about it all the time. Real enough that he felt like he was suffocating. Real enough, he thought to himself as he slouched in his chair, that he was beginning to wonder if metaphorical weights could cause back problems.
—
With all of his newfound responsibilities, Steven finds himself under a lot of pressure. Pearl steps in to help.

Summary
Nothing mattered.
The car continued to shoot down the road at an alarming rate.
“Steven! Steven, hit the brakes! Stop! What are you doing?!” Connie grabbed him by the arm, shaking him in an attempt to rattle him back to reality, in vain. “Steven, please!!”
Absolutely. Nothing.
—
Steven hasn’t been himself lately, and at this rate, he’s going to make a mistake he can’t fix. Connie notices and tries to intervene, but she’s too late, and they both pay the price.
