Five weeks of abstinence, four failed appointments, and a frantic sprint to the clinic, and he was finally in the room. He had the sample cup and the magazines and instructions to "take his time, catch his breath, no rush". But the nice clinic nurse didn't have Connor and Kameron counting on him, waiting anxiously on his sperm. And with his luck getting to this point, he probably didn't have long before something went wrong. There was absolutely a rush.

Children. He had children. A son and a daughter. A son alone was a gift, but a daughter was nothing short of a blessing. Especially after a lifetime of thinking he would never have either. He was certain he wouldn't, after so many years alone and unsettled. Even more so after realizing the true nature of his feelings for Bilbo. They were both male, after all. In the unlikely event Bilbo returned his affections, they would never be able to have children. Or so he thought. Who knew the old rumors about Hobbits growing on the vine like pumpkins would prove to be true!

Richie just looks kind of sad, and tells him to stay awake while he runs off shouting, and Eddie thinks I don’t think I’m going to make it that long, but he doesn’t have the strength to shout. He just watches Richie until he can’t see him anymore, and he quietly wishes maybe he’d said something different after all.
And then there’s just darkness.
He wakes up, startled, in the Town House, with his face in his hands and his elbows on his knees.

Summary
Castiel's Grace is kept safely inside Dean's chest, wrapped around his soul.
Dean grabs an insane Castiel out of the Empty. They have to make their arduous way through all of the after-life, in order to get back. Dean, is struggling to keep them alive and safe, all the while trying to come to terms with his feelings for the angel. It doesn't help that he has to fight everything and anything in between. Also, Castiel seems utterly unhelpful, unable to take his own Grace back from Dean.

Cas comes back. It's not exactly the reunion that Dean is expecting.

Dean stares at him, flummoxed. Cas quite literally poured his heart out to Dean, gave a truly sappy and distressingly romantic speech and everything, then proceeded to give his life so that Dean could live his. And he wants to act like he doesn't want to see Dean, be around him, touch him?
Actually, Dean's ninety-nine percent sure that Cas probably wants to fuck him, and while he has no clue how he feels about that, he's pretty goddamn sure that means Cas doesn't get to act like this and make it authentic.
It feels strangely real, though, as if Cas wants nothing more than to get as far away from him as possible. This is a blatant contradiction. Even someone as weird as Cas doesn't want to get away from the person they have the desire to fuck five ways to Sunday, that they're in love with. That's not how these things work, so Dean isn't buying it.
