He certainly had never imagined himself sharing a life like he and Kaelix do now, their home and friends. What does it say about Kaelix that he treated Freo just like all the others did? Like nothing more than a used receptacle for his pleasure. Like he’s nothing to Kaelix. Him, Freo, the man he loves more than anyone else in the world.

Jiang Cheng has three things he needs to do before he graduates and moves to Seoul to take over the South Korea branch of his parents’ business:
1.) Finish all of his going-away gifts,
2.) Find a new roommate for Wei Ying who won’t murder or steal from him, and
3.) Tell Lan Xichen he loves him.The first is the easiest, because he already retreats to his workroom whenever he’s stressed, which at present is nearly all the time. The second is harder, because while he’s sure there is no shortage of normal people looking for roommates, there is a shortage of normal people who will put up with Wei Ying.

“Meng Yao is back,” he says. He tries to school his face into a normal, neutral expression, but whatever Lan Huan sees must be pitiful, by the way his eyes sadden. Or maybe the sadness has nothing to do with Jiang Cheng. Maybe it was the reminder of the heartbreak Lan Huan had suffered at being abandoned by Meng Yao.
“He is. He returned to Hainan for a few years, at his father’s request. He… is now here, for the time being.”
“I see.” Jiang Cheng looks away. He can’t look at the pity in Lan Huan’s eyes, or the longing, the yearning. He certainly can’t look at the door to Lan Huan’s apartment, knowing that he is in there, the one great love of Lan Huan’s life.

Meng Yao shows up after breaking Lan Huan's heart and disappearing for 3 years. Jiang Cheng assumes this is the end of his relationship with Lan Huan.
