“Would you like to grab a cup of coffee?” The words spill out of Steve’s mouth before his brain can process what he's doing, and almost instantly he's embarrassed, more so since Sharon is giving him this look that's incredulous and bewildered and baffled and amused. “I know, it's the worst possible time, but…” He shrugs, throwing her a sheepish smile. “I’d love to talk to you.” Find out more about you, and about Peggy.
Sharon regards him for a moment, biting her lip as if she's trying not to smile. Then she looks back at the reception, and Steve hopes she's considering his offer. She turns back to him, and there's a flicker of a smile at her lips.
“Give me five,” she says.

Summary
What will be remembered in history as the Second World War is over, and Bucky's not the same. Steve’s been worried about him ever since they returned to New York after the war ended. It doesn’t help that Bucky’s been withdrawn, spending more time drunk than sober, and flat-out refusing Steve’s offer of a job at the SSR and working in construction instead. Steve's trying his hardest to get through to him, but Bucky's keeping him shut out. Not that Steve's going to give up trying.
