Summary
Kim Mingyu is content being Jeon Wonwoo's best friend. Or at least, that's what he tells himself. For a decade, Mingyu has carefully hidden his not-so-platonic feelings, and the intense burn of longing has dulled to a manageable smolder. He's convinced himself that even just dreaming of something more would put too much at risk.
But Mingyu isn't the only one with a secret. Wonwoo is the sole omega in the group of thirteen—a truth he's always kept concealed from the public.

Mingyu’s just relieved there’s another sober person at this godforsaken party. Even if that other person might potentially be a serial killer (?) in his free time.
(Mingyu pinpoints the name after five seconds—Jeon Wonwoo—and double-takes. Wonwoo’s in Mingyu’s calc class, and he always sits in the back and never speaks. Which is all fine and dandy, but he’s hot, so people talk. Accounts of attempting to ask the boy out have been catalogued as an acceptable horror story to tell around the campfire.
But Mingyu does not give a shit about that right now. He’s desperate. So he grabs the water bottle and says, “Please help me.”

“What.” Mingyu manages as the room breaks into uproar. He instantly regrets his own inability to shut the fuck up, especially around Minghao and especially when talking about Wonwoo’s mouth.

“We need you and Wonwoo to play," Minghao says. "Both of you.”
“Me and Wonwoo?” Mingyu asks. “Why both of us?”
Minghao fidgets in that way he always does when he doesn’t want to say whatever comes next.
“It’s…a game about people knowing each other.” He looks away. “Just, like, their knowledge.” His eyes dart back to Mingyu. “As two people who…care about each other.”
They hold eye contact. Minghao blinks.
“This sounds a lot like a game for couples,” Mingyu says. “It sounds like a couples game.”
“Kiiiiiind of,” says Minghao.
“Not kind of,” Mingyu insists. “It sounds exactly like that.”
There’s a pause.
“Wonwoo and I are not a couple,” Mingyu adds.
