Summary
“Honestly, at this point, if someone wants to date me or fuck me, they’re going to be required to present me with a four-page paper, double-spaced, MLA citations, on how they’re not going to break my heart or waste my time, respectively."
Camilla makes a statement. Palamedes follows through on the request. The resulting misunderstandings really should be expected.Bookmarked by hexenjunge

Summary
His body feels strange. There had been many scenarios vivid in his mind when he had woven his Teleportation spell with shaking fingers, but he finds himself realizing that somehow, all of them had included Caleb putting his hands on Essek’s shoulders.
Caleb, concerned and serious, a tenseness to his brow as he reinforces his wards and asks Essek if he was followed. Caleb, frustration in the set of his jaw, asking Essek why he had not come sooner. Caleb, soft-mouthed, guiding him to the closest chair.
When the room instead is quiet and dark, and then keeps staying quiet and dark, he finds it suddenly difficult to keep standing.

Summary
"I regret that I can't be here with you more," Essek began, talking firmly over Caleb's automatic protests, "and I know that as much as our arrangement is … acceptable, in the Empire, I feel as though we have held ourselves constrained by standards that are not our own." He hesitated for a moment and pulled back, so that he could meet Caleb's eyes. Caleb nodded for him to continue. "I talked to the archmage. Astrid."
Essek knows that Caleb doesn't like to sleep alone.

Summary
“I think,” Caleb says, slow and measured, as though he's thought about this for a long time, “I've had enough of going through every day like I'm about to die, because I'm not. Not anymore. Now, I… I think I would like to live.”
[In which the new Archmage of Civil Influence, her sole annex, the former Shadowhand of the Kryn Dynasty, and a weary transmutation professor at Soltryce Academy knit themselves back together, hand in unlovable hand.]

Summary
---
Essek watches, transfixed by the tiefling, as he takes his hand to his lips for a brief kiss across his knuckles, the sharp talons kept away in an easy motion.
“I don’t think I’ve ever met a drow properly before,” he says, relinquishing his hand and bowing with a flourish, “It’s a pleasure, Mr. Essek. I’m Molly, but I’m sure you’ve gathered that.”
“The pleasure is all mine,” Essek replies, falling back on his manners even if he’s sure he looks bewildered. Most people from this side of the Ashkeeper Peaks don’t smile like that at the prospect of meeting someone from his folk.
---
In which Mollymauk comes back to his body, minus a few memories, at the Blooming Grove. Essek is intrigued. Caleb is glad.
