Summary
At the Empire State Building, Annabeth flashed her badge to the desk clerk, and got Percy a visitor’s badge. He scrawled his name on it, thought for a second, and then put a trident next to it, the tip of his tongue sticking out between his lips as he drew. He looked proud of himself as he slapped the sticker on his chest. Annabeth laughed at him, so in love she could die.
“Ugh, I should’ve also asked them to change the music,” Percy complained, as they listened to an inexplicably instrumental cover of Never Gonna Give You Up. “It just gets worse every time I come here.”
“You’re lucky that you missed the huge fight Apollo and Hermes had earlier this month,” Annabeth said. “Apollo locked the settings on the music, so it played nothing but William Shatner singing Rocket Man for two weeks straight.”
or: Percy and Annabeth and the first day of their weekend together.

Percy’s mom had always raised him to be a gentleman, so he did the gentlemanly thing and gently moved his arm so it wrapped around Annabeth’s shoulders. Unconsciously, Annabeth shifted so her face was tucked into the crook of Percy’s neck. Percy could feel his face heating up. They were basically cuddling. Gods forbid Grover or someone else walk in on them.

He expected her to blush, maybe, laugh and swat his arm in that way of hers, in that way she does every time he insists on sharing his mushiest thoughts. But she moves very little, only her smile softens slightly, and her pupils blow wider. "You think you'd find me again? In another life?" She says softly, a little breathlessly "Even if I wasn't me anymore?"
And there is no way that his soul, if it were to venture onto another life, wouldn't start wars to find this again.

Summary
After everyone’s tasks were assigned, it was just Percy and Annabeth, together again. Percy returned to his spot at her bedside, lacing their fingers together. With his free hand, he cradled the side of her face. His eyebrows were doing the thing where they scrunched-up on his face again. Annabeth liked it.
“Annabeth,” Percy exhaled, “why–? Why did you do that?”
“‘Cause I got your back, Seaweed Brain,” Annabeth replied, as if that explained everything. To her, it did. Percy had saved her so many times throughout the years, it only made sense that she put her life on the line for him, too. It was how they worked.
