Summary
It's been a long time since his home was no more, but years later, Kaoru is still a lonely individual.
Though he doesn't lack in care or soul, he's always been particularly guarded, and a little bit of a dreamer. Friends were nice, but companionship was something he didn't really know how to handle.
But life likes to mock him in various ways, for the gods thought it would be very funny to make him, -the most socially inept weirdo on the planet-, take care of a spunky, mischievous, but inquisitive familiar.

“Hurts, lemme go,” Kageyama complains. It’s hardly eight, but he’s already exhausted; Ushijima climbs into bed behind him. He’ll probably watch over Kageyama for a bit to make sure he won’t choke on his own spit in his sleep and die or something.
