one of the most adorable fics ever i genuinely can’t get over the characterization of mahae in this, its so them in a way and i love that. all the little domestic moments of them together were definitely my favorite. i love how they both don’t feel the need to explain how their relationship works. they’re both so precious and sweet in this and just so adorable together, you can just tell how fond they are for each other without them even having to say anything.

the implication that they’re fated to be together..i wanna cry because not only in fiction but in reality i feel like markhyuck were genuinely fated to meet each other.
“We should be friends, yeah?” Mark proposes, his hopeful expression making him look years younger. “Only if you want to, of course. You’re funny, and I really miss laughing.”
Donghyuck studies him, eyes shaking at Mark’s forwardness.
“According to you, I’m funny, I have a beautiful voice, and everyone’s jealous of me,” he says finally. “Is there anything else?”
Mark nods, eyes full of mirth. “You’re pretty, too.”
mark causally calling him pretty was just so…chef’s kiss they’re so adorable together and people just couldn’t understand that they work and function best with e/o
i’ll say it again, this is genuinely so cute and they are two cutiepies in love, one of my favorite parts was mark saying that he’s gonna marry him someday and i just think it’s cute that he already knows that that’s what the future holds for him and hyuck.

i’m gonna cry i absolutely adore this fic. i love everything about this so much, the prose, the humor, the storyline, the way mark and donghyuck are portrayed, the emotions, literally everything. i really adore how this fic balances humor and angst and love all at the same time, this was such a fun and cute read.
“what do you call a bread that plays the piano really well?” mark thinks about the question like it’s a brain teaser, so donghyuck rolls his eyes and adds: “you’re supposed to ask me what?”
“okay, what?”
“chopin.”
mark is quiet for a long time, and donghyuck thinks that he’s only made the situation worse, but then he exhales through his nose once, and then twice, before breaking into a loud fit of giggles. he laughs and laughs, leaning over to catch his breath. his entire face changes, squishing together around his nose and revealing his perfect set of teeth. he has a high pitched and messy laugh, splashing against his otherwise immaculate, carefully put together exterior. and donghyuck decides that he likes it a whole lot.
“you really liked that, huh?” donghyuck says teasingly, breaking into a proud smile.
“that’s funny,” mark still laughing, interrupted with a few cute tiny hiccups. it’s like he’s never heard of the concept of puns in his twenty six years of life. “you’re really funny.”
and that’s when donghyuck realizes his boss is kind of a dork.
they’re so fucking adorable together. i think this moment was one that definitely changed things for the both of them even if they didn’t know it at the time. all of donghyuck’s little jokes that made mark laugh were so precious, it’s so adorable how he would just say even the worst joke just so he could see mark laugh, even if this was a slowburn they were so domestic the whole time it felt so fast.
it’s not fair, how is donghyuck supposed to resist him? “okay, i’ve probably had feelings for you since you laughed at my stupid bread pun, but i didn’t realize it until that day in your apartment. i went crazy over how cute you look in your glasses, but i think you’re just as handsome right now. i love how you can be so adorable and sweet and dorky but also sweep me off my feet, with your confidence and your passion and the way your eyes absolutely light up when you talk about the things you love,” it’s only then that donghyuck realizes he can spot the sparkles right now. have they always been there? “i used to hate how you said my name because you sounded so distant but now the way you say it is probably my favorite thing about you. are you satisfied?”
“i could listen to you forever.”
“prepare yourself for forever then, director lee.”
AND HE MEANS IT! despite some of the bumps in the road with all the family drama and a little relationship drama they still found their way back to each other after everything, even if donghyuck said it was fate that lead them together as a joke i believe fully that they are 100% soulmates.
their children are chasing the dog around the neighborhood park, mark is holding his hand and swinging it absentmindedly, and it’s in these little moments that donghyuck feels his love the most. his comfortable presence, the way he would look at him when he thinks he’s not looking, the same sparks in his eyes still as bright as ever, the slightest bouts of physical affection, like the first time mark held his hand. soft, shy, subtle. warm just like mark.
such a beautiful way to round off a gorgeous fic, when mark proposed i was in so much shock like i totally did not expect that literally at all, his speech was so beautiful and sweet and just so precious i was swooning the whole time. the seven year timeskip to them being married with children…i definitely cried, they ended up together after some hardships and got married and built a family and they’re so cute and precious..im still crying. this fic is so stupendous and beautiful i had such a great time reading all of it.
