Louis de Pointe du Lac is an ambitious man of some means, but little social standing. When he is introduced to Lestat de Lioncourt, a gentleman of considerable wealth and status, they quickly clash. However, after an accident leaves Louis injured, he is thrust into Lestat's world as he is forced to recover at the gentleman's lavish estate and Lestat becomes determined to make Louis fall in love with him.

But it wasn’t true. He loved Lestat so much he sometimes felt like the weight of it crushed him. He could hardly breathe, sometimes, blindsided by his love for Lestat, could feel it swirling inside of him, trying to make its way out, ready to split his skin open with how powerful it was. Louis hadn’t always been honest about it but it had always been true nevertheless.
