“We are not what we once were, Jayce.”
Jayce scoffs. “And whose fault is that?”
“Yours, mostly.”
Jayce explodes, like he’s been holding onto the phrase for too long: “You broke up with me!”

Summary
When Jayce has a rough day at the Academy, he returns to he and Viktor's shared dorm in hopes of getting a good night's rest. What he finds instead, is admittedly much better for his wellbeing.
He’s been coming ‘home’ to Viktor for the past year. Viktor is the one who made soup for him when he fell ill in winter. Viktor is the one who validates his work, who stays up until the sun rises to triple check an equation. Viktor, who brings food to his mother when she visits. Viktor is his home. Although a Piltover native, there’s always that itch in the back of Jayce’s mind. He’s never felt like he belonged, the way he does when he’s with Viktor.
The people he surrounds himself with, don’t click with him. They don’t see the inner workings of Jayce’s being. They make him feel smart, with their idling and frankly wrong theories — Viktor makes him feel equal.

Summary
Jayce hasn’t had much success in previous timelines. Cities left to ruin, thousands dead. Small mistakes — a needle’s drop or a simple miscommunication leaves Jayce scrambling onto the next. Then the next, and another. All for Viktor.
When he stumbles upon a timeline not yet doomed — one in a distant past, where it's Viktor is alarmingly similar to his, Jayce crumbles under the weight of his gaze.
