“I just can’t do this! The exposition is in two months and I have nothing!” Jeongin yelled, as if it were somehow Hyunjin’s fault.
“If you wake up Changbin I swear I’ll poke your eyes out with a needle and then paint with your blood!” Hyunjin threatened, holding his finger towards Jeongin’s face.
“I just… I can’t, Hyun.” Jeongin mumbled, slumping into the leather imitation couch in his studio. “nothing looks pretty, nothing is worthy of all this effort, I’m so done.”
“What do you mean?” Hyunjin asked, raising his eyebrow as he walked further into the room, flipping through Jeongin’s sketch book, noting the amount of drawings of the same face. “No more freckle boy?”
“Little shit refuses to come back! I’m barely able to remember his face, I need something new!”
Hyunjin rolled his eyes, sighing.
“You might need to just… meet new people? I don’t know, bread, something besides freckle appears-in-your-dreams boy.”

He remembers his husband’s smile, wide, gummy like, so big it barely fits on his face due to his big cheeks. He remembers his laugh, loud, obnoxious, his favorite sound in the entire world. He remembers his voice, yapping about his next project for his tattoo parlor, about the appointments he has that day, about his favorite anime and how he watched Nana again.

The reporters follow them through the airport, yelling their questions. One person asks them, “did the hyung wait for the dongsaeng?”
“Hyung waited for me.” Jeongin reiterates patiently.
What he wants to say is: Hyung waited for me because he is mine.
Chan giggles, pushing himself against Jeongin’s side. “Hyungnim told me to wait for him.”
Jeongin’s hand grips his bag with white knuckles, holding back the urge to take Chan here and now, despite the cameras, or perhaps because of them.
