Summary
"Hold on, please," Phainon says, grabbing hold of Mydei's arm in desperation, trying to keep him on the bed.
Mydei doesn't listen. He pulls himself free, striding across the room to tear open the curtains obscuring the only window. Outside the window, he can see the source of the light that had blinded him:
There is no newborn sun of the new dawn. Instead, Kephale's Dawn Device still towers over Okhema. Below them, the city is eerily quiet.
This is Okhema frozen in time, its citizens gone. Even the birds have been silenced. An afterimage of the past, of time together they'd sacrificed in search of the new sunrise. None of this can be real—a beautiful dream crafted to deceive him, only one that is now fraying at its edges, showing the rot underneath.
"If this is the Era Nova, then where is the sun we were promised?" Mydei whispers under his breath.

Summary
The little briefcase whirs slowly to life. She gives a low, sluggish chirp at Kaveh’s approach. He doesn’t smile. Instead, his fingers trail across the seams of her casing, checking each latch and joint with unusual severity.
Alhaitham closes the book, marking his page. “What’s wrong with her?”
Kaveh startles slightly, as though he hasn’t realized he’s being watched. His mouth opens, irritation flickering there—ready to scold, no doubt, for prying after this morning’s quarrel—but then he sighs, rubbing at his temple.
“She’s been… off.” He mutters the word like it doesn’t quite fit. “This morning she was sluggish. Commands lagging. Like she couldn’t keep up with me. She’s not supposed to do that.”
Mehrak starts malfunctioning at random intervals, and Alhaitham and Kaveh are determined to figure out why.

Flins feels his entire body immediately go into a standstill. A part of him wonders if Varka was joking with how casually he announced it, but there’s none of the usual playfulness that gleams in those blue eyes and—

“So soon?” Flins calmly asks despite the thundering blaze in his flame.

Flins knows it will happen sooner or later, as Varka doesn’t originally belong in Nod-Krai. Moreover, separation and goodbye are common for long-lived beings like him, but…

Phainon's expression doesn't change, still blank and almost as if he's looking through Mydei. He doesn't like it.
"Are you alright?" He asks, kicking at his thigh lightly.
Phainon hums, gaze still thousands of years away before it refocuses sharply on Mydei. "When am I not?" He asks, lips tilting in what's shaping up to be a smirk.
"Do you want me to answer that?" Mydei asks drily, crossing his arms.

Summary
The mystery hot man sitting diagonally to him keeps checking him out. Or at least Phainon thinks he’s checking him out. He keeps looking pointedly in Phainon’s direction, and hasn't turned a page of his book in 5 minutes. At one point he stares at Phainon so hard that a wrinkle forms in between his perfect angular nose bridge.
He won’t lie, that’s very flattering. Phainon has been told that he’s a good looking guy, though he doesn’t make it his entire personality or anything. And if the circumstances were any different, he’d tap it. The man is insanely attractive. But this isn’t about him! This is about Castorice and her potential scammer girlfriend. He had to stay focused! He can’t afford to get distracted by pretty boys!
Meeting online friends in-person is a scary thing, and Phainon can’t rest unless he’s sure his friend Castorice is safe. So he does what any good friend would do, he follows her.
