Summary
It ought to be raining, Ginny thought bitterly. Storming. She felt it ought to be the ugliest day she had ever seen but as she stared out at the lake, she saw just the converse.
Harry breaks up with Ginny, leaving her alone just after Dumbledore's funeral. Ginny certainly isn't running to cry into anyone's arms, but Neville isn't fooled by her facade.

Summary
“I don’t want people to make excuses about the way I am, saying it’s because of them. It’s not. They were amazing people, Gin, you heard Gran talking about them. They were Aurors, and they were good at everything they did and they were impossibly brave and I’m not.” Neville’s voice cracked, but he continued on. “Everybody in my family knows that. I’m a disappointment compared to them. I’m so proud to be their son, Ginny, but I’m so ashamed that I’m the son they have.”
Ginny sees Neville for the first time since learning of his parents' fates at St. Mungo's, and offers a way to channel their heroics within his daily life.

Summary
Ginny halted on the step. Of all the scenarios she had imagined that would allow her to go to the ball, attending with Neville Longbottom hadn’t made the list.
Neville needs a date to the Yule Ball. Ginny can't go unless someone older asks her. What she's worried might end in social suicide ends up being an even better night than anticipated (bruised toenails aside).
