Summary
Alicent Hightower, DVM, has a life that many dream of at 32 years-old. She runs a veterinary clinic in rural Southern Illinois, has plenty of friends that she only ever sees at work, and a steady boyfriend who is wildly in love with her. Alicent, however, is married to her job, and finds very little time for anything else. Her boyfriend wants them to move in together, and her friends keep telling her to get a life outside of work, but she can only run from her problems for so long.
Rhaenyra Targaryen is the current top female rodeo athlete in the country, and has been competing against the pressure of upholding her father’s legacy as the greatest American Bull Rider for most of her life. Rodeo is the one thing that can quiet her mind. When the only thing in the world is her body and the bull beneath it, Rhaenyra can feel eight seconds of total freedom. But with pressure mounting for the upcoming season, she's desperate for a distraction.

Summary
Jacaerys Targaryen is getting married! He and his college sweetheart, Baela, are preparing for their big white wedding on the quaint island of Dragonstone, where Jacaerys grew up with his mother, Rhaenyra, at her hotel the Villa Visenya. His mother has spent the last twenty years of her life giving everything she has to make a good life for herself and her son, and now she is determined to set up the most beautiful wedding this little Villa has ever seen. What she doesn’t know is that Jacaerys has devised a plot to invite a surprise guest to the wedding: his father. He uncovers an old college diary of Rhaenyra’s, revealing three potential suitors who his mother met in the summer before his birth: Criston Cole, Harwin Strong, and a third mysterious individual only referred to with the initials “A.H.” In a potentially unwise and terribly reckless attempt to discover his father’s identity, Jacaerys uses the information from his mother’s diary to reach out to the three individuals and invite them to his wedding using his mother’s name. Little does he know, this will shake up the Villa beyond anything it’s seen before, and bring back old feelings that Rhaenyra thought had disappeared long ago.
