after losing the world driver’s championship to lando norris by two points in abu dhabi, max kind of… disappears. he skips the FIA awards, says he’s sick, and avoids the one person he actually wants to see. to max, losing the title also means losing the number one — on his car and maybe in charles’ life too. he convinces himself he’s no longer the guy, not when someone else gets the number one now. charles, however, refuses to let max believe he was ever replaceable, because long before trophies and championships, Max was already his number one.

it was the first year/season that max tried to hold back on his temper and anger issues, for charles, his boyfriend for almost 2 years now. however, what many people didn’t understand was max used his temper to cover that he is hurting. even though max seems happy, charles sees through him and comforts him.
