Damian is, against all odds, a good person. Someone who was born and raised without receiving a shred of kindness or affection, and yet managed to understand it and replicate it to extend it to others, to protect others, cannot be anything less than a good person.
He doesn't believe it yet, but maybe one day he will. After all, there are many people destined to be there for him and show him over time.
