Summary
Hotel addresses and room numbers. Flight details. Countries and cities, some with question marks next to them, others crossed out: Berlin, Bermuda, Lake Placid, Espoo, Amsterdam. Deadlines for first drafts, futilely underlined and never adhered to. Books you’d said you would read. Birthdays, and gay bars, and anniversaries.

Summary
“Daddy,” Daniel hears himself say, voice trembling in time with his shaky hands.
”Yes, yes. Call me that,” Armand clasps his wrists, kisses his temple and the corner of his mouth. He pulls Daniel into his arms, giving him a place to rest in the crook of his neck. “My firstborn. My precious boy. My baby.”
”Daddy.” Plaintive. It’s a good word for pleading, rolls right off the tongue, with room for a whine at the end.

Summary
Daniel doesn’t make it a habit of picking up hot young things in bars, but he’s fairly certain he’s not the one doing the picking up here. Armand was the one sending him glances all night, Armand was the one who sat down next to him and slotted a leg between his thighs before he’d even had the chance to say hello.

Summary
”What’s the point of painting someone like this?”
“What do you mean, beloved?”
”She looks like she’s chewing a wasp.”
“And? What is wrong with that?”
“It’s unflattering. Unrefined. You’d wonder why he didn’t tell her to, you know, perk up a bit.”
Armand stifles a laugh with his hand. Daniel glances over at him, and can’t help softly smiling. Preening. He likes that it amuses Armand when he behaves like a philistine.
”I still fail to see the problem. There is something to be said for preserving someone in the imperfect stages.”
Armand can look so tender when he smiles, sometimes. Butter really wouldn’t melt, when he gives Daniel that shy look from under his eyelashes, like they both don’t know what he’s thinking.
