“Tony fucking Stark,” Clint says, and he points at the black smoke. “Did you blow up that base, you piece of shit?”
“Absolutely not. I almost got blown up with it.”
Clint is not alone. A few yards behind him, a scrawny figure halts and squints at Tony from underneath a frayed baseball cap. Sunken eyes. Dressed in a black undershirt and cargo pants.
Can’t be older than eighteen.
“What are you doing here?”
Clint jerks his head at the boy behind him. “SHIELD mission. Extracting a hostage.”
Tony glances back at the teenager, whose face has now morphed into something entirely impassive. “He seems thrilled about his rescue.”

“What’s going on?” Tony asks, walking over to the security guard. The man is sitting at his desk and talking to a kid who’s gesturing animatedly. “Is it bring your kid to work day or something?”
“Hi!” the kid says, smiling brightly and waving at Tony. “I’m Peter.”
“He says he’s, uh…” The guard seems to be at a loss.
“You’re my dad!” Peter says, still smiling brightly.

It should be an easy rumor to dispel, seeing as it’s not true. But, it turns out, nothing is ever quite that simple when dealing with a celebrity scandal.

Summary
A phone call that his son is being held at the 28th precinct throws Tony’s savoir-vivre out of balance. Because his son should not be in New York, much less at a police station. “Isn’t his mother listed as his primary guardian?”
“She’s also listed as living in Maryland. Are you going to collect your son or not?” There is an edge to the police woman’s voice, particularly over the words ‘your son’. And Tony realizes, awkwardly, self-consciously, that he probably couldn’t sound any more like a deadbeat dad.
The reality of the situation is: he hasn’t seen Peter in almost a month now, since their latest horribly ugly falling-out. And practically bailing him out of jail was not part of any of the one thousand bonding and rekindling scenarios he has run in his head since then.- Language:
