Applause broke out amid the Court, and Rhaenyra smiled at her. A full, unguarded smile. Alicent did duck her head then, her face redder than the Keep, but her father did not notice this time.

Helaena is eight and he freshly seven, tooth faced and smiling. It’s his nameday, and yet he gives the small, black kitten to her. Many people think black cats bring bad luck, she knows it, and she cries over it, despite how Aegon teases her.
When he presents the small kitten to her, she can’t help but fluster and beam. The kitten captures her heart already.
“For you, Helaena,” Jace breathes. “I know how you love animals.”

Summary
Thrushpelt watches his kits' apprentice ceremonies. They've grown up so much in six moons, it feels impossible.
Next to him, Bluefur watches too. He hopes she knows he'll still be by her side.

Thrushpelt wakes to his kits tackling him. Stonekit and Mosskit are practically the same size as him, although Mistykit takes after her mother.
"Thrushpelt!" Stonekit shouts. "C'mon! C'mon! Sunstar is making us apprentices today."
Thrushpelt rolls his neck, stretches out, shaking off Mistykit and Stonekit. Mosskit clings to his back, and as he straightens up, she digs in her claws, trying to stay on.
He winces, but he can't tell her to get off. They're right, of course. Sunstar has made it clear they can expect to receive mentors today, and he can't help but fear this will be the last time they'll be playful enough to wake him up like this.

While this is fairly straight-forward, it'll make more sense if you've read "i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart."
