he blew things out of proportion even if he hadn’t meant the things he said. the pang he felt in his chest watching her swiftly grab her coat and leave made him think that maybe there were more feelings involved than he assumed.

Loid Forger let out an audible sigh, watching his breath form a small puff from the cold. He should be home about now, hanging up his coat and hat, and setting down his briefcase. He should be kneeling and giving Bond a few scratches behind his ears. He should be greeting his family, listening to his daughter, Anya, rattle off the events of her day to him. He should be pulling his wife, Yor, into an embrace, sharing a soft welcome-home kiss, rolling his sleeves up, and helping her with dinner.
But tonight, Loid Forger would not be returning to 128 Park Avenue.
Operation STRIX was over. Loid Forger was dead.
