This story picks up after the ending of The Way of Water, with the huge canon divergence that Neteyam does not succumb to his injuries and instead survives. But at what cost? He now needs to redefine how he sees himself after his injury leaves him unable to continue on his warrior son path.
Meanwhile, as the war to protect Pandora is only getting started, Jake and his family must once again answer the call to action. Only this time with the bull's eye painted directly on their backs, and with the Sky People gearing up for an attack on a much larger scale, they need to recruit more allies than they've ever thought possible.

Summary
Cassandra Thread, daughter of Commander Thread (yes, the Commander who whipped Gale and almost shot Katniss) and Haymitch Abernathy – two broken, scarred people finding each other in the bunkers of District 13, during the Second Rebellion.
Romulus Thread is a cruel and horrible man, and his dishonorable posting in District 12 was a direct result of the recent revelation that some 20 years ago, when he was still a cadet, he seduced the daughter of one of District 2’s commanders. With her dying breath the woman named Thread as the father. The child, now a young woman was shipped off to 12 to live with him after her wealthy uncles that wanted nothing to do with her pulled some strings.
Story begins during some of the off-page events that take place between Catching Fire and Mockingjay (namely the bombing of District 12 & Katniss' rescue from the arena) & spans the plot of Mockingjay (and beyond, if I feel like it). Any dialogue or action taken from the books or films belongs to Suzanne Collins & Lionsgate.
