“Your eyes.” Angel says to himself but it’s just loud enough in the otherwise quiet room to draw the other man’s attention. Aki’s typing slows to a stop as he sits back in his chair and blinks, clearly caught off guard from Angel’s seemingly random announcement.
“What?”
“Your eyes.” Angel finds that he has to repeat himself often around this man. Maybe he should add it to his list later. If he remembers. “I don’t like your eyes.”
“Why?” If Aki finds offense to what he just said, he doesn't show it. Angel sets down the pencil that he was toying with earlier and shrugs, not really bothering or wanting to offer an explanation. He’s not obligated to tell his life story or his likes and dislikes with someone- let alone a human.
“Are you owed an explanation?” He expertly dodges Aki’s question with a query of his own.
“I guess not. “Aki replies slowly, “it’s not like I’d care about your opinion anyways.”

Summary
Makima folds her hands on the table. “So tell me,” she says. “When it all ends, what side of Aki do you think will remain? The one that hates devils, or the one that loves you?”
Aki Hayakawa dies in less than two years. Angel knows this. Aki Hayakawa hates all devils. Angel knows this, too. Turns out, some things are way easier to know than to accept.

As he watches Angel stand calf deep in the water, bathed in sunlight and happy, Aki realizes two things.
One is that he is hopelessly in love with him.
And two-
“I never thanked you,” Aki winces at the way his voice cracks and Angel looks up at him from where he’s crouched to watch the small fish swim by. He’s visibly confused, tilting his head enough that the tips of his hair dip into the water. “For saving me that day on the beach.”

"You're staring," Angel said, voice low and even, the words curling like smoke. No inflection, but they landed heavy, vibrating through Aki's chest, as if exposing his true, deepest intentions.
Aki couldn't speak. Couldn't move. Angel shifted then, settling astride him, small, slender weight pressing down, knees bracketing his hips, the lace of those panties brushing fabric against fabric in a friction that sent heat spiking through Aki's veins.
// Or, the weeks before Halloween eve leave Aki with just three things: endless deadlines, cigarettes, and an uneasy feeling after an inconvenient dream about his intriguing and reserved coworker, Angel.
But after a late-night Halloween office party, where exhaustion and a dare game blur his feelings, Aki ends up offering Angel a ride home, and maybe something he can’t take back. -

“He’s here again.”
“Hm?”
“Your iced black coffee with oat milk, no sugar man,” Himeno says as she nods towards the door, crouching back down to sift through the fridge. They’re running low on soy milk; there might be a fit if they can’t get more by the time the evening rush hits. “Right on time, too.”
And Angel lifts his head, dog-earing his book and peeking from under his lashes to watch as the iced black coffee with oat milk, no sugar man walks through the door. Not his iced black coffee with oat milk, no sugar man, just—a man. That man.
Aki—Ah-kee.
