Summary
“Hey, Buck,” Maddie cuts in, soft. “Evan. Look at me.”
Buck looks at her. His heart rate is up, he can hear it on the monitor, and the nurse is looking between them with a raised brow. He’ll have to remember to apologize later, after he gets to his—
“They’re in the waiting room.”
...or, wherever he was, Buck comes back.

Summary
“Dad?”
“Yeah?”
Christopher is quiet for a moment, mouth twisting up like he’s trying to find the right words. “Why didn’t you tell me you were going on a date?”
Eddie’s not proud of choking on his spit, but—well, he does that, right in his son’s doorway.
...or, no, of course that wasn’t a date. Wait. Was that a date?

Summary
Eddie’s eyes snap open. It would be comical, the way he goes from lying down to fully sitting up in a matter of a second, but it’s—surely that couldn’t have—did that just—
He ghosts his fingers over his own lips, and—yeah, yeah, he’s pretty sure Buck just kissed him.
...or, an accidental kiss situation that Karen is somehow dragged into.

Summary
“Oh! You must be Mr. Diaz!” someone says from behind him, and Buck spins around clumsily, all long legs, to find a woman with a Miss Perez tag stuck to her blouse. She’s smiling politely, white teeth against red lips, and it takes just a second too long to process what she says.
...or, everyone thinks Buck is the other Mr. Diaz.

Summary
After a while he starts to miss Mom a little bit less, and he thinks Dad does too, because they have Buck. He doesn’t think about her a hundred times a day like he used to, maybe just once or twice, or some days not at all until he says goodnight to her because Dad framed a picture of the three of them to always sit on Chris’ nightstand. At first he felt bad that there are days when he doesn’t think of her but Dad tells him it’s okay because the love is still there anyway and that makes a lot of sense because he always loves her even when she’s not on his mind, just like he always loves Dad when he’s not on his mind either. Buck says Dad is definitely right because the love is in his heart and his heart beats it all through his body so of course it’s always there, it’s always there making his heart beat and his body warm.
Chris is really glad he has both Dad and Buck to help with the hurt and the tough questions. He already knows a lot himself, but it’s good to have back-up.
or, Buck and Eddie through Christopher's eyes.
