Even if I weren't a Trekkie, I could completely appreciate this fic. The author added a bunch of backstory and built upon a very strong foundation in a way that makes it, somehow, even better. Lots of light-hearted moments and highly amusing dialogue, but also scenes that make my heart flutter and pulse race. The essence of a space adventure, but with a deep friendship that blooms seamlessly into profound romance (not to mention, all the chemistry!). I think my favorite part is that Yuuri is so capable. He's an unassuming badass and I would take a phaser beam for him.

Stiles is an omega with a seemingly off-putting scent and was convinced he would be alone as no one found him remotely appealing. He finds out the head alpha of their territory, Derek Hale, is holding a scent trial to find a compatible omega. Stiles has to go along with it despite knowing he won't be chosen. It would just be another rejection. But he can't even begin to predict how the day will go.

When I started this fascinating (and sexually awakening) trip down the proverbial rabbit hole, I did not expect ABO fics to become one of my favorite types. And yet, here I am, a slut for seeing my favorite characters portrayed as omegas. Oh, well. Anyway, this features an insecure Stiles and protective/smitten Derek, all tropes I can't resist. The flirting between them is also a wonderful combination of sweet and hot.

Summary
Derek Hale leaves Stiles bereft after a one-night stand. After exposing his heart to the older man, someone he trusted intrinsically to at least remain friends, Stiles finds himself unintentionally abandoned by the last person with which he had any hope. With nothing left to lose Stiles uses the cover of a school trip to run away from the pack. He finds out soon after that Derek left him with more than just painful memories. He meets a witch who becomes a much needed friend.

Not as light as some of my other Sterek recs. Be warned, lots of angst. Deals more explicitly with noncon and mental illness. That said, superb writing and character development. I deeply wish the original characters existed so I could be friends with them. Stiles has to suffer, but he eventually finds people who are as dedicated to him as he was to everyone else. Just when the hurt seems overwhelming, the author provides the comfort I need. Their incorporation of New Orleans lends amazing depth. They have a way of making everything emotionally raw and riveting. I don't tear up easily, but this fic tests me every time. Fast-paced and lots of action.

Never expected to like Cinderella AUs in regards to this ship so much, but this is exactly what my heart needed. Cute, funny, and charming, like Stiles himself. By the end, during "the jail scene" (trying to avoid spoilers), I about burst with happiness. Perfect amount of hurt/comfort. So many great lines, too. One of my favorites in all of fanfic came from this work: "To eat your food and steal people's shit." Absolute poetry. Plus, Stiles is a thief. Couldn't ask for more.

Secret admirer fics make me giggle like a schoolgirl (internally, because no one wants to actually witness that). And Merlin deserves to be admired, dammit! This is an adorable, funny, sweet, charming masterpiece. It's centered around a library, people. That's right, a library! There's book references and misunderstandings and the usual teen awkwardness, but so much more entertaining and enjoyable. Plus, Arthur defends Merlin's honor and fights a bully for him. Be still, my heart. I approve of every decision that went into writing this.

Summary
Midoriya Izuku's adopted brother, Kirishima, brings him a strange puzzle box that contains the whereabouts to the famed Hamunaptra, otherwise known as the City of the Dead. The city, lost somehwere within the depths of Egypt, is said to have held great power during the golden All Might Era. It is also rumored to be the final resting place of the king's all powerful books; The Book of Life, and the Book of the Dead. Izuku doesn't believe in magic, he believes in history, and that's exactly what he expects to find in these books.
To actually get there, Izuku has no choice but to accept the help of the infuriating, and ridiculously short fused soldier, Bakugou, who claims to have been there before. The ensuing ride tests both Izuku's and Bakugou's patience, and the two form the most unlikely of alliances.
Little do they know, the power that they are messing with should have remained undisturbed, and there is something more lurking with the tombs of Hamunaptra than treasure...

In terms of longer fanfics, this is the one I've re-read the most. Never get tired of it. Izuku is smart and brave and stunning in every way. The relationship between him and Bakugou becomes intimate but also maintains its fire. Never found the original Mummy movies erotic, but this. *fans self frantically* Any hotter and I'd pass out. The manhandling and rescuing is so damn enjoyable. Great adventure story, genuinely creeped me out at times. I mean, the scary scenes are so well-written I was choking on my spit. Warning: almost burst into tears when I looked at the chapters at, like, three in the morning and saw it hadn't been updated since 2018.

One of the first fanfics I ever read, and the one that sparked my obsession. First and foremost, DRAGONS! Also, older Nico and Will, so it gets very steamy. Their interactions are precious and humorous, but there's also plenty of darkness, angst, and suspense. Love what they decided to do with Nico's character. Note: It is marked as incomplete, but when I read it years back, I remember it feeling like a finished story.

Too bad no one told Jack that unicorns are hard to hide things from.
(Or: Jack's a scared virgin in a world of people who want to molest him, Bunny sticks his foot in his mouth, and unicorns come to the rescue. I'm serious.)

I'm into hurt/comfort, and this definitely hits the spot. Poor Jack suffers so much, finds a way through sacrifice and determination, and is finally rewarded with someone who treats him right. Yes! Great concept, highly entertaining throughout, especially the assumption/misunderstandings, and I practically swoon when the Guardians come together to defend their/our beautiful boy. Also: unicorns.

Shiro has been a Galra prisoner for over a year; with his flight feathers clipped and unable to fly. Desperate to escape, he jumps overboard while being transported to the capitol on a Galran ship. Lance is a merman who saves him from drowning. Keith thinks Shiro is about to become mermaid dinner. Hunk just wants Lance to stop going to the surface all the time, dammit!
(AU where Avians (winged folk), Galra, humans and merfolk cohabit earth. Shiro and Keith are avian soldiers, Lance is the youngest son of a Queen, Hunk is also a merman and Pidge is still looking for her family. They get caught up in a war.)

Probably anyone familiar with Klance fanfic has heard of this one, especially those into mermaid!Lance and/or avian!keith. This is not without very good reason. This author took a concept a lot of people adored and didn't just run with it. They participated and won every possible marathon with it. Great writing. Rich world-building. Kidnapping and rescuing. The dynamics between characters is adorable, especially when Lance is learning about land cultures and humans. Enough humor to regrow my heart reach time it's ripped out.

A chance encounter with a dark haired stranger changes everything and knocks what little peace he has found off balance. The dwarf seems determined to be involved in Bilbo’s life and he finds himself unable to keep pushing him away. Suddenly his own happiness doesn’t seem so far out of reach.

I fell in love with this concept when DomesticGoddess was experimenting with and presenting story ideas. I basically begged, sans dignity, for it to be continued, and miracle of miracles, it happened. I was blessed by the Goddess. Bilbo deserves to be admired and pursued by someone who genuinely cares about him, and the best version of Thorin is always at least a little broody. So cute, but plenty of hurt/comfort, for anyone with tastes similar to mine. Can't wait for the rest.

Fantastic writing. I was absolutely captivated from start to finish. The characters are so rich and developed. They start off as enemies but gradually realize how human the other is, how worthy of sympathy and understanding. The pacing feels very realistic and, well, can't leave out the fact that it is HOT and exciting. Kidnapping and manhandling of beautiful, defiant Merlin? Yes, please! Also, would be a crime to omit this, the fanart is absolutely GORGEOUS! Some of the best I've ever seen.

My rec list heavily favors Sterek fics, but this is one of the works I've re-read the most. Suspense, kidnapping/bondage, hurt/comfort, feral!Derek, feisty!Stiles, so many of my favorite tropes. The author does a great job of staying true to characters, even when Derek can't speak much. He just wants to take care of Stiles so bad! #same

Such a sweet, fun, exciting story. Creative and adventurous! The pacing is exceptional, I couldn't stop reading. And there was a lot of suspense, especially toward the end. I love when authors portray Yuuri as gorgeous and heroic. That makes me happy on so many levels.

Midoriya Izuku has always been written off as weird. As if it's not bad enough to be the quirkless weakling, he has to be the weird quirkless weakling on top of it.
But truthfully, the "weird" part is the only part that's accurate. He's determined not to be a weakling, and in spite of what it says on paper, he's not actually quirkless. Even before meeting All-Might and taking on the power of One For All, Izuku isn't quirkless.
Not that anyone would believe it if he told them.

One of the best written works I've EVER read. Not just in terms of fanfics, but in general. And I've read A LOT. Truly original plot. Mind-blowing character development and dialogue. Can't express how powerful it is with mere words. The only reason I haven't finished it is because I'm savoring the last few chapters.
