Summary
“No,” Dex says, not looking up from his homework, the moment that Nursey bursts through the door of the basement bungalow. The man has at least finally learned to knock first, though he never actually waits for Dex to answer.
“I didn’t even say anything yet,” Nursey pouts.
Dex keeps his eyes fixed firmly on the textbook on his desk, refusing to glance back over his shoulder and see whatever stupid expression Nursey is probably making at him. Nursey has a full arsenal of expressions at his disposal that all seem tailormade to chip away at Dex’s steady resolve. And it’s been getting harder and harder over the years not to let anyone see that, especially Nursey.
“You didn’t have to,” Dex says. “I could hear you psyching yourself up on your way down the stairs.”

Summary
Look, Derek knows he’s a romantic. Hell, it’s half the reason he got into poetry in the first place. He’s well accustomed to stopping to smell the flowers and feel the rain, to finding beauty in the small things, that kinda thing. He has a notebook—a real, physical book bound in soft, dark brown leather—that’s near overflowing with all the stuff that makes his heart sing and cry, with pressed flowers and various receipts tucked in as bookmarks. That is to say, Derek knows he’s a romantic, a big sap, and he knows where to put all the mushiness inside him before it overflows and threatens to crack his chill.
But, somehow, that hasn’t prepared him for Dex.
Or, the one in which the night makes them brave and they make out in Derek's car.

Summary
Nursey makes a beeline towards Dex at the table after getting his own mug. On his way to his own seat, Nurse shoves a hand in Dex’s hair to ruffle it. “Morning, Dexalicious.”
God has abandoned Dex. There’s not even a modicum of justice left in this world.
Nursey’s fingers catch in the tangles in Dex’s hair on the way out.
An uncharacteristically high pitched definitely-not-moan pushes out of Dex’s mouth against his will, and he smacks his hand over his mouth like that would shove it back in.

Summary
Dex doesn't drink.
Not at small group hangouts, not at celebrations, not at kegsters–hell, Nursey doesn't even think Dex drinks in private.
Which is why Nursey is really puzzled to see Dex with a red solo cup in his hand.
He watches as Dex makes his way to the dance floor, cup in hand. This should be fun. Dex never dances, always so insistent that he can't dance for shit, come on, guys.
It starts to become less fun and more puzzling as he watches Dex start dancing with random people. And it's not just dancing, it's give-Patrick-Swayze-a-run-for-his-money dirty dancing, grinding and swaying and caressing in a way that no one as awkward or uptight or stiff as William Poindexter usually is should be able to.
or: dex doesn't drink because he is a desperate and horny drunk, until one night he does.

Summary
At the beginning of his senior year, Nursey immediately (if unwillingly) realizes two things in quick succession.
One: A large portion of the Samwell student body is apparently into Dex, even if the guy is completely oblivious to this fact.
And two: For reasons that Nursey refuses to verbalize, he has a pretty big problem with that.
