I’m practicing an enchanting spell when I hear a knock at the door. I slip my wand in my pocket and open it. There he is. Simon Snow. He’s shaking, bleeding from a cut on his cheek, and he looks scared. A chill runs down my spine. Simon doesn’t get scared. His eyes are glossed over and his hair’s a mess, he’s covered in dirt and swaying on his feet. Is he drunk? I think, stunned. What the hell happened to him?
