Chow cleared her throat. “We’ll rotate him back into containment soon. Baseline complete. Observation only. Do not engage. Do not provoke. Do not underestimate.”
Selene exhaled, releasing tension she hadn’t realized she was holding.
As the harnesses retracted slightly, allowing controlled repositioning, Selene cataloged every micro-movement: head tilt, tension in limbs.
Pen poised over the tablet, she prepared to record again. There was much to document. And she would.
Chow spoke once again:
"Remember, they are not human in any sense you expect."
Dr. Selene Voss didn’t sign up to care about anyone. That was the rule.
But when the children start twitching, flinching, and staring at her with more than fear in their eyes, she can’t look away.
Because in a lab designed to erase everything human, letting someone slip through can get everyone killed.
TL;DR:

In the wake of Andre and Assimilation’s tumultuous escape, the Admins are left scrambling to re-secure the Gridworld facility. Collecting their obedient little AI can wait; he was bugged anyhow, Andre wasn’t going anywhere once he achieved his goal.
Right?
Or: The Admins put too much faith in the unpatched bug in Andre’s programming, allowing him and Assimilation with just a bit more time to talk, to flee, and to come to more than a few realizations.
