So, when the bastard started to look at him weird whenever he would brush aside an injury, a weird sense of worry on Johnny's face, that should've been the sign.

Summary
In his final moments, Takemichi thinks back to the times where everything was a little simpler. The New Year's Festival where it was all smiles and dumb jokes. Everything in his body hurts - but he just wants a future where everyone is happy, including Mikey. Why was it so difficult?
"I'm sorry, Mikey," Takemichi rasps out with what little of strength he had left. Mikey's eyes seemed to be distant, staring down at his bleeding body. "I wasn't able to save you."
His eyes closed, for the final time, Hanagaki Takemichi took a breath.
Then, his eyes opened again. He's back in the past, this time, only days before the Black Dragons fight. Determined to make it right, Takemichi throws himself into a hectic rotation. He learns how to fight. He learns everything that happens. He's determined to make it correct this time.
(But everyone has a breaking point, and Takemichi's is near.)
