You should be delighted. You've grown up and stayed in a camp where you were left without a group to belong to, staying with the Hermes kids in a spare bunk. Finally, you get your answer. Finally, you can know. Or at least, that's what everyone else thinks.

Summary
“Attention, students,” a man’s voice comes through the speakers. Slowly, he calls the names of all the students in detention — including you. “You won’t be causing trouble ever again. Windows and doors are locked,” he announces dramatically. “Breaking out only means that I’ll come get you, so do yourself a favor and surrender. I promise to make it quick.”
Then he hangs up.
“What do we do?” you whisper to Jisung. “You— you love horror movies, right? What should we do?”
He stares at you.
“Yeah, I— I do. I didn’t think you’d remember.” It’s not the moment, but for a second — less than that, a fraction of it — you’re no longer a terrified prey but a teenager again, feeling like you’ve just exposed your crush.
Or: You weren’t happy about getting detention, but getting to be around Jisung almost feels like it could make it worth it at first. At least, until you realize that there’s a killer on the loose in the school, and that he plans on getting rid of all of you.

You leave the comfort of your house in the country to find the Fireflies, completely unaware that it would lead to a string of events that would change you forever. But at least you have her, right?
___________It's then that Ellie sees you. The blood. The bodies. A sickness pools in her stomach, cold and quiet.
She meets your eyes, finally dragging them away from the man's body. She takes in all of you. Your sunken eyes, the strands of hair stuck to your face, your trembling legs, your paled face. Despite everything, she knows you're still you. Buried somewhere was the thirteen year old who shed silent tears for dead animals and the girl who would stay up all night so everyone else could sleep, the girl who would give you all her rations even when she was starved. She knows you as the thirteen year old who was fierce, loyal, loving, gentle. Wouldn't take a life unless absolutely necessary.
Ellie knew you, but the person in front of her was not you. It wasn't that girl who she'd known years ago. She searched your eyes for even hint of that girl, but there was nothing.
