Gwayne could not remember the last time he had voiced aloud what he had truly wanted. Being left behind and forgotten had happened so many bloody times that he stopped bothering to try. Falling in love with the man who had served and loved his sister for many years had really been the ultimate choice but it wasn’t one that he would ever regret.

When a letter from Aegon arrives in the middle of the night, begging for Daeron to fly to his side and be his loyal knight, Daeron can only answer the call of his king. He flees upon Tessarion to Harrenhal, to where he finds that Aegon is not alone. For the first time since he was sent away at the age of three, Daeron reunites with his brothers to where they begin their plots to return the rightful king to his throne.
