Summary
“Is that your mark?”
“Oh, yeah,” Tom says, flushing some and peeking down at the veritable smudge on his arm. It’s not exactly his best feature – other people have little charming stripes or an animal, lines from a poem, and he’s got… none of that. Hell, Shiv herself has that cute blade at her ankle.
Shiv stares for longer than is strictly comfortable.
“It’s not really any sort of shape,” Tom laughs, a little awkward, thinking she might be trying to figure it out. “It’s a Rorschach, I guess. Or, well... that’s what one doctor said.”
Shiv raises a brow and touches just lightly around it. “Like the ink blots?”
“Yeah, just like,” Tom says, then he turns his arm a little to look at the inside of his bicep, tapping at the mark in some urge to cover it up – to make her stop looking at it. “Whoever my soulmate is, they’re a little different depending on who’s looking at them.”

Summary
Tom listens to Greg descend the stairs and winds a hand tight into the duvet, swallowing back a heady impulse to call after him. He wishes that he’d been released on a Friday, then he could mope in bed behind a door while still getting to listen to Greg make platitudes all day.
Absence makes the heart fonder and all that awful shit. It’s just a lot, really, to be – He doesn’t believe this was a good idea, anymore, taking up a completely different life for his house arrest, no matter what it had seemed like under stress and dread of leading himself to fucking slaughter.

Summary
Greg is bemused as to why Professor Wambsgans is even speaking to him. Tom Wambsgans is on track to become a tenured professor in the next three to five years, with his latest article in the New Yorker, ‘Political Debate on Primetime: The Persuasive Effect of ATN’, being the most talked about thinkpiece for the past few months. Greg has a note taped to his fridge ranking every flavor of pop tart from best to worst, that he wrote while high on a strain of weed called cherry vanilla cookie.
