"He pulled himself back. Slowly, sluggishly ripping himself off of the edge of the pool. He turned, taking a few long steps, haste to his movement; only for the pain in his leg to catch up to him. His knees buckling once more, sending him colliding with the floor.
The dull throbbing radiated throughout his body as he gave a few short, labored breaths.
With a tremble to his hand, he pressed it to the ground underneath him—painstakingly pushing his body upwards. Fighting to get back to his feet, even with his injuries, even with his weakness.
He had to try.
