Summary
“I hate you,” Katara spews, hardly flinching at the backlash of shame that travels with the words. “I hate you so much that I’ll probably die from it.” She tries not to think about the blood-rushing excitement of hatred; how she flushes and pants with it.
Zuko merely stares because he doesn’t hate her back at all. “That’s one thing we have in common.”
Katara grows up in the gloomy tourist-trap of Lake Laogai. Here, scandalous gossip protects an undercurrent of appalling human nature. She flees the moment she’s able, but Katara is borne back to the town’s haunting depths when her brother needs help.
Katara arms herself with a cynical outlook upon seeing Zuko face-to-face as adults. She vows not to trust his sudden change of heart as much as she’d like to.
Modern AU, no bending.

When he peers up at Felix, haloed in the setting afternoon sun streaming in through the library windows, he sees, for just a second, a fur-trimmed blue coat with a high collar caressing the curve of Felix’s neck. He blinks, and the image melts back to Felix as he normally is, staring at Sylvain with a sweatshirt on and a stricken look on his face.

Summary
Felix hasn’t seen Sylvain in eleven months, not that he’s counting, but he’d still recognize him anywhere. He always did take up all the air in any room. Now he’s doing it even outdoors. Felix can’t breathe.
He counts to five. He remembers how to inhale and exhale. He abandons his bags and stalks over so that his shadow falls over Sylvain, folding his arms over his chest.
“You don’t go to this school,” Felix says accusingly, by way of hello.

Sylvain and Felix fake date at Christmas. It goes about as predictably as you’d expect.
