Sophomore year of college, Will’s finally closer to getting over Mike—until a certain phone call.

In which, during a cozy Winter Break in a cramped New York apartment, Will and Mike find their way back to each other in the midst of separate lives, college and healing.

Almost two years ago, during The Party's D&D campaign after graduating high school, Will Byers made himself a promise: that he would get over Mike Wheeler.
They still talk for hours on the phone, exchange letters like childish pen-pals, and meet up with The Party for holidays and breaks.
But Will has one rule he abides by like it's the law: don't hang out with Mike alone.
And he's sure it'll work. Eventually. Because it has to. So, he avoids Mike's attempts at meeting up and, lately, even his calls.
But avoiding him proves difficult. More than difficult. Especially when Mike calls one evening, after two months of not speaking and four of not seeing each other, and asks Will if he and the rest of the Party can visit him in New York. For the entire Winter Break.
Suddenly, Will's plan no longer sounds feasible.
Because first loves are hard to forget—and impossible if they're sleeping in your bed. -

Summary
Paladin Michael switches with our Mike. Will Byers finds an injured knight on his doorstep.
Mike fumbles for Will’s face, armoured thumb on his chin. “William?” Butts his forehead against Will’s. “It’s you,” he chokes. “It’s you.” Kisses him.
His lips and stuttering breath hot on Will’s mouth. Kisses him hungry and wanting. Messy, teeth scraping down his bottom lip as he sags against him.
Byers can’t help himself. If he knew this was waiting for him in Hawkins, he wouldn’t have played hooky for two years. Kisses his best friend back, hands supporting him, feeling him. Mike’s hair is longer; Will rubs his fingers backwards up his scalp, tugging. Then groans, and pushes away. “You’re bleeding."

Summary
Mike grabs Will’s hands and tangles them with his own, blinking up at him through his long, dark lashes. His eyes are endless. Solid black, like the night above them. So shiny that Will can see himself, tipsy and happy, in the reflection. “I want to be stuck with you,” Mike whispers, like it’s a secret. “I don’t ever want to leave.”
Will sucks in a sharp breath, squeezing his hands. “Then don’t,” he whispers back, punched-out and honest. “Stay.”

Summary
“Oh, come on,” Will says, struggling to keep his voice neutral in a different way. His mouth is dry, and he hates Mike for it even more. “Is this what it’s going to be like this summer?”
Mike looks back at him, considering, lips pursed in an effort to shut down the smirk that Will knows is fighting to break free. Will doesn’t dare to let his gaze catch there, focusing instead on holding Mike’s stare, because this, too, is a game.
Five years into a rivalry with bittersweet origins, the only thing Mike and Will want is to beat each other at this summer’s camp counselor competition. But being back at camp is dredging up old memories, and as Mike and Will lose momentum and gain something else entirely, it becomes increasingly clear that one summer can change everything.
