“I'm not drunk enough to not know what I want,” she says.
“I know, but -” the pinch of a headache is already beginning in his temples. He wants to remember every detail of her when he touches her. Not fumbling, hands clumsy against her body, can't stay hard even with how badly he wants her. He presses his face into her shoulder. “Perhaps just not…the first time.”
“Aw.” Her hand scrubs through his hair. “You want it to be special?”

Mia couldn’t in good conscience call herself a patient woman but what little she had she gave to Cullen (and Rosalie, though if he was still anything like the boy she remembered then those two were still two sides of the same coin). She could only sort-of piece together what had happened to him after Kinloch Hold through letters from his superiors, rumors from old family friends who’d fled north to the Marches, and a healthy dose of speculation. More than once, she tried to plan a trip to see him but something always got in the way. There was the aftermath of the Blight to deal with, or one of their other siblings fell ill, or she'd hear tell of some imminent danger in Kirkwall that had halted travel. Eventually she resigned to her fate: Lying patiently in wait for an opportunity.
