Eddie chuckles joylessly.
Here are all the years he has spent fighting, traveling the room like echoes. Eddie finds it almost like a joke. How can he mourn something he’s never had? How can he miss a person he never was?
There is a specific version of Eddie, far and untouched, that lingers inside of him. It is stainless, that version of him that never had to experience war, death, guilt, and repression. He wants that version of himself so badly, but it’s always out of reach. It isn’t a memory, but a dream and yet, somehow, he misses him, that Eddie.-
