    When Will walked through the front door of Mike’s house, he didn’t expect to see a carbon copy of Mike— only more raggedy with shaggier, knotted hair, a leather jacket, and sharp eyes that made Will audibly gulp.

    Boris seemed to lock eyes with Will, looking at him up and down, before walking up to him with a grin and leaning close— too close— to his face.

    “I see you have a Potter here, too.”

    Boris comes to Hawkins to live with the Wheeler’s after his dad’s passing, and seems to take an interest in Will.

    Mike’s cousins come from all over the world, but they share two things in common: they all share a fascination with Will.
    And they all look exactly like Mike.

    Mike recalls the brief interaction he had this morning in the hallway for perhaps the hundredth time. Maybe his friends can help. Help with what exactly, Mike doesn’t know— but something has been bugging him and he needs to get to the bottom of it.

    “Hey, do you guys know that kid that wears all black? Chain belt? Eyeliner?”

    “The gay kid?” Dustin supplies.

    Oh, that’s right. Mike knew he had heard about him somewhere. He’s kind of famous around school. Well, him and his boyfriend. Even with it being 2006, they’re still the only openly gay people at the school.

    Mike nods. “Yeah, I guess. I ran into him this morning. Literally, like we collided.”

    Mike has a run-in with Will Byers, the school’s so-called “gay kid”. He takes it upon himself to befriend him, and quickly learns about Will’s relationship troubles with his boyfriend Matt. Along the way, Mike struggles with his identity, and Will struggles with his self-worth.

    "And I understand if you want to move out, or something," Mike continues, his voice getting thick as tears prick at his eyes, "because it's weird for your best friend to be thinking about you like that, and— you know what? I'll just go." He starts to get up, pushing himself up on his hands as shame curls heavy in his stomach. "I'm sorry—"

    Without warning, Will's boot comes to hover over his chest. Mike stops in place, his mouth hanging open.

    "Stay on the floor." Will's voice is uncertain, wavering with nerves, but his eyes darken like he's never wanted anything more in his life. He presses the tip of his shoe to Mike's chest, and— painfully slowly— pushes him down.

    Or; Mike is embarrassingly obsessed with Will's new style. Will helps him through it.
